Frances Ellen Wann

Frances Ellen Wann was the daughter of William Wann JP and his wife Margaret (nee Mitchell) of County Armagh, Northern Ireland. She married Thomas Cooke (Frances was his second wife) in Belfast 1884. At the time Thomas Cooke was reported to have been one of the most successful businessmen in Tamworth, Staffordshire, England. Frances and Thomas Cooke lived in Tamworth Castle. It is recorded that Thomas Cooke in 1869 took out a 21 year lease at the castle. The Cookes were said to be the last wealthy tennants to live in the castle and they left in 1897.
Today (2005) on a Tour of Tamworth Castle one can view the rooms decorated as they might have been when the Cooke family was in residence.

Thomas and Frances Ellen's daughter, Ethelflaeda, was born in 1885.
