John Wann

Frederick Alexander Wann

The son of William Wann JP and Margaret Wann (nee Mitchell), Frederick Wann was born at Markethill, 7 May 1854. Frederick was educated at the Royal Schools of Armagh. He moved to the United States in 1868 and settled in Lawrence, Kansas, where he became chief clerk in the office of the General Superintendant of the Kansas Pacific Railroad. Thus began his career in the United States Railroad.

In 1906 Frederick moved to Los Angeles, California and became General Traffic manager San Pedro, Los Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad.

Frederick Alexander Wann married Carrie Van Court 21 August 1901. He was actively interested in the development of the Los Angeles Harbour and a member of the California Club of Los Angeles, Illinois Club of Chicago, and Alta and Commercial Clubs of Salt Lake City.
